No Resolutions Here

During the last few weeks of 2015 I heard some powerful sermons that felt like they were written just for me. I don't have any resolutions for 2016, but rather some good advice gathered from those sermons that has stuck with me and I plan to use throughout the year.

Most days I get up and feel like I'm hitting play on an old, familiar movie. I go through the motions and get up the next day to do it all again. It's so easy to become complacent and okay with getting by. But this year I want to find my what in the question, "What are you waiting for?"

I want to focus on how God plans to use me for throughout my life. I feel like an abiding participant in what life is expected to be- go to college, get a job, etc. but I want to be more--do more. What does that mean for me?

Some takeaways that resonated with me are:

  • Live every day listening for God. Actively waiting means seeking God in your every day life not passively waiting for God to show up.
  • Expect God to come through knowing, believing, and trusting that he will provide. Do not confuse expecting with demanding--looking to your own plan and seeking God to give you your plan on your time.
So for 2016 all I know right now is that I want to spend time seeking God and strengthening my relationship with Him. Where will this year take me? I don't know, but I know I can find my what through Him.

Isaiah 40:30-31
Even youths grow tired and weary; and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.
