Wardrobe Transition: Summer to Fall

That time of the year is steadily approaching. Us likeminded are disinterested in lush greens and sticky, sun soaked days. We long for the fiery and crisp, cool days of Autumn. Visions of all things pumpkin are creeping into the minds of the obsessed. And if you're anything like me you are itching to bring out your wooliest cozy sweaters and scarves alike. Even the trees are already beckoning for the change.

When the Fall finally dips into the midwest, I look forward most to changing up my wardrobe . I adore cool weather and much prefer pants and sweaters over shorts and a t-shirt.

As ready as you might be for Fall to make its grand entrance, there is nothing more ridiculous than walking through September in your favorite cable-knit and riding boots on an 85 degree, sunny day.

I've put together my ideas of how to transition into your favorite fall fashion pieces while still dressing appropriately for the weather. A lot of these items I wear all year round, but style them differently depending on the season.
Keep cool with a breezy, sleeveless top in an across the seasons color like royal blue. A simple, printed work pant can be styled for many different seasons. As it gets colder you can toss a cardigan over this top.

I wore this outfit for a casual date night recently. I slipped on my Birkenstock sandals to keep it summery, a statement necklace to dress it up a bit, and a denim jacket for the cool evening temps.

This daytime look is the ultimate transition outfit. It's comfortable, cute, and has the best of both summer and fall. Throw on some ankle boots, a statement necklace, and some bold makeup to go from day to night with this look.

I like outfits like this because if you're still feeling summery you can wear sandals or fast forward a bit and wear some ankle boots for a transition alternative.

These taupe ankle boots I found at Nordstrom Rack this summer and I love them for transitioning and wearing straight through Fall. Keep your outfit summer fun by adding a splash of color with accessories.

I hope you found some inspiration in these outfits as you manage to dress for the unpredictable, in between season.

What are you looking forward to wearing most this Fall?
