Today I'm combining numbers 4 & 5. Up first? The blog name.
Story Behind A Latte Learn
When I first started blogging I had just moved to Florida and seriously needed a hobby. I filled a lot of my free time with reading blogs and thought writing my own would be a fun way to document what I was up to miles away from my friends and family.
I didn't do much research or planning before starting my own blog and I cringe now at what my first setup was like. I originally named my blog Live. Laugh. Learn. I didn't have any real direction and was too worried about looking like other successful blogs rather than creating my own image.
I was also reading mostly fitness and "healthy living" blogs which I was trying to emulate. I workout and I enjoy trying to live a healthy and fit lifestyle but that was a blogger mold I was trying to fit into that wasn't really me.
I really despised my unoriginal blog name so I thought long and hard about changing my name to something more me. The one thing I did give some thought to from the beginning was the"learn" aspect. It has always been a part of my blog name because I truly believe in being a lifelong learner (can you tell I'm a teacher?). Learning from life's experiences, big or small, is important to me. It's how we grow as people and what you put into life is what you'll get out of it. I like being open minded and experiencing new things. I strive to live life to the fullest as hard as it may be at times.
This post on my 25 year lesson kind of shows where my vision for this attitude really blossomed.
I changed my name to A Latte Learn and haven't looked back since.
Funny thing is I'm not a huge latte drinker, but I love all things coffee so the name works. Drinking coffee can be a very relaxing and social experience and I like to snuggle up with a cup when I write or read other blogs. I enjoy the coffee shop image that pops into my head when I read the blog name.
So there's the long winded story behind my blog name--the whole blog concept, really.
Top 5 Favorite Movies
Gosh, these change all of the time. If I could do it by category I wouldn't have to leave so many good ones out. I'd call these the top 5 movies I could watch over and over again and never tire of them.
- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (You don't know how hard it was to choose 1 HP!)
- A League of Their Own
- Top Gun
- The Holiday
Disney and Christmas movies are just in whole other leagues so that's why none of them made the list! ;)
And that's all for today folks!
What's a movie that you never get sick of watching?
