North Market in Columbus

It has been a great weekend so far, everyone! Yesterday I had the chance to meet up with Corey in Columbus at the OHSAA state track meet. It was much more enjoyable than I expected! Although it got quite hot sitting in the direct sun, it was a beautiful day and perfect for the event.
The athleticism was top notch and it was entertaining to watch the best of the best athletes compete for state titles. Those kids are wicked fast!!! The girl who took the title in the 1600m did it sub 5 minutes and the girl who won the 3200m had a 5:15 mile split and set a new record! Seriously--so much fun to watch. Big congrats to Corey, his fellow staff, and the 2 athletes they had compete.

Before heading over to the stadium I visited North Market for a bite to eat. I had never been before so I was excited to experience it for myself.

I didn't have a whole lot of time so I gave the place a once through, strongly debated on having a cheesy Bavarian pretzel and Belgium crepes for lunch, and then settled on a caesar salad and a small bowl of pasta from Pastaria.

The pasta sounded so good--bow-tie pasta with a creamy artichoke, gorgonzola sauce, but ended up a bit disappointing. It was good but sadly nothing special and left me feeling a bit crummy later on. I'd try it again but maybe with one of their red sauces instead.

I browsed for a few more minutes, mostly making mental (and photographic) notes of places I want to come back for when I have more time. This barbecue looked un-real and smelled absolutely amazing.

The place is bustling with all types of people--perfect for taking your meal and grabbing a prime people watching table. I'm already planning my next trip--and eats!
