Raise Your Brush

A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to visit an art entertainment studio fairly new to the Dayton area. As a twenty-something always looking for things to do in a not so big city, I jumped at the chance to experience Laura Carter's artsy night on the town.
The process to set up an evening with friends could not be any easier. Here's how it works! Simply visit the website, view the calendar to see the paintings offered for the month, and book your spot right there online. Here's a look at my take on the experience and at the end I may even have a little discount for ya!
To start the evening, I met my friends Angela and Courtney for a quick dinner at Noodles & Co. where I had a delicious Mediterranean dish. Pasta might just top the list as one of my favorite meals.

Bellies satisfied with the comfiest of comfort foods, we headed over to Raise Your Brush to get our paint on! Upon entering the studio we grabbed an apron and headed to the sign in area where we got our paints...
--oh yeah, and wine! Did I mention there is a bar?!
Trust me when I say there isn't much that could be more relaxing than good friends, wine, and step by step painting.
Once we were all seated Laura gave an introduction (letting us know that we were her first ever sold out group!) and dove right into the evening's scheduled painting.

Now I will be honest and say that I never really liked art in school. I was a little intimidated at first that I wouldn't be able to pull off a great painting. However, Laura is a fantastic teacher and explained each step in such a simple and understandable way. She also models the steps while painting on a raised platform and spends time walking around to answer any questions and help out.

If you couldn't tell from the pictures we had an absolute blast! The atmosphere at Raise Your Brush is friendly, inviting, and completely relaxing! The best part is that you don't have to be Van Gogh to have a good time. Laura is so knowledgeable and easy going that it makes following along simple!

Those of you in the Dayton area should check it out and set up a night out with friends! Raise Your Brush also books private parties and fundraising events. It's a great way to get out with friends at an affordable price and you get to come home with your very own masterpiece!

And for all of you great readers, Laura has offered a fabulous deal. Call to register for a session through May 31st and receive $10 off! Just be sure to print the coupon and bring it with you the night you attend.

Thank you so much to Laura for having me! I will definitely be planning another visit soon.
