Universal Orlando Part 1

I'm on Spring Break this week! ☺This much needed time off from school has been GREAT so far! Corey and I got to spend a relaxing 2 days away visiting Universal Studios Resort.

Unfortunately, our first day there it poured down rain all. day. long. It kind of worked out in our favor as we spent the day (after a 2½ hr drive) just relaxing at the resort. Later that night we went to Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville for dinner, and yes, my raspberry margarita was delicious!

We were going to check out some of the nightlife that Citywalk had to offer, but being Sunday night and all there wasn't much of a nightlife to be had.

Our second day was clear skies and a high of 78 degrees.  We chose Universal Island of Adventure for our first park.  Let me just tell you...

Day. Made.

I was pretty stoked about The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It was better than I could have imagined --well maybe minus the crowds--but the Hogwarts ride was well worth the 2½ hr wait! I didn't try any Butterbeer or go to The Three Broomsticks because of the lines, but I did snag these fun things from Honeydukes!

Lessons Learned:
  • Sometimes a higher or extra expense is worth the added perks-- i.e. staying at the onsite resort gave us access to the water taxi which meant not paying for parking over and over again and the option to come and go as often as you wanted, the express lane on certain rides with hotel key card (this was definitely worth it!), and early access to Harry Potter before park opened.

  • Take advantage of said perks-- because we like sleep way too much, we did not take advantage of early access to Harry Potter.  Now I see why it's such a great offer.  I might've enjoyed it more and would've been able to do more had it not been so crowded.

  • Make the most of a situation even if it doesn't follow "the plan"-- I was pretty bummed that we didn't get to go to one of the parks on the first day due to the rain. I felt like our trip was ruined, but it actually worked out much better that we were able to relax at the resort then enjoy the park the next day. And, we will still get to use our second pass on another day!

All in all the trip was fun and relaxing and that's what I call a success.  I can't wait to go back to Universal Studios with our second pass!

Hopefully I will get some teaching posts in this week since I am on Spring Break and will be doing a little thinking ahead planning.

If you have been to Orlando Universal Parks, what was your favorite part?
